• What Is a Complete Metabolic Panel?

A comprehensive or complete metabolic panel (CMP) is a group of 14 lab tests. Urgent care doctors may request a CMP when they suspect a patient has a particular medical condition, such as one that affects the liver or kidneys. It can also be performed as part of a yearly physical exam. CMPs help the doctor evaluate many factors of a person’s health, such as electrolyte balance, blood glucose level, and blood protein level.

Complete metabolic panels are blood tests. Some patients are asked to fast for 12 hours prior to having their blood drawn. However, this isn’t possible when a CMP is being done at an urgent care visit. If any of the results on the CMP is abnormal, this could potentially indicate problems like diabetes complications, liver disease, kidney failure, or breathing problems.

Complete metabolic panels are one of the many onsite tests we can perform here at Paramount Urgent Care. For more information about our medical services in Orlando, please visit www.paramounturgentcare.com.
